Biarritz to Paris to RDU

I began my trip back to the States with a very early morning taxi pickup to get to the airport- which was literally next to the hotel.  Once there, i was offered a wheelchair and was escorted easily through security and onto the small plane.  No real first class, but was in the first row with 3 seats to myself so I could keep my leg up.

Crutches and a cast are very helpful!

And then the food began.  Air France takes food seriously. Even on small shuttles like this one.

My breakfast:

We arrived at CDG and again, I was whisked with crutches and backpack to the Air France lounge where more food and excellent coffee was offered.

Then promptly at noon, the champagne cart began circuling the room.  Impressive.

My escorts returned to wheel me to the plane and I discovered that International First Class has its own jetway onto the plane.  No mingling with lessor mortals.

I had a bed, so I could stretch out fully and get my leg up. And lots of attendants to fuss over me.  Not too bad.

First, we were offered these very yummy cheese crackers and a herbed cheese to assuage our hunger before lunch.  Yes I ate them all.

Then lunch arrived in courses...

All expertly prepared and presented.

A cheese course, bien sur...

and dessert..

Followed some time later by more food..

All accompanied by offered of coffee, tea, wine, champagne.  All through out the trip.

When we landed in RDU, I was escorted off the plane - FIRST - and then up the jet way, through the crowds to Immigration and Customs - no waiting for ME...

This would have been so wonderful if I had broken my ankle on the last day of my trip- I would have sooo enjoyed it.

The next day I saw Duke Ortho who replaced my plaster cast with a walking boot.

t I was home only a week after I had left.  But with a burning desire to go back.
